Most visitors rent from one of the national brands inside the airport’s Rental Car Center. Miami also has a group of long-running independent agencies, most of them clustered just outside Miami International Airport, and they are worth a look before you book.
This guide lists local agencies we could verify, explains how pickup works when a company is not in the Rental Car Center, and gives you the questions to ask. Addresses, phone numbers and services come from each company’s own website, checked in October 2026.
Why rent from an independent agency
- Different cars. Local agencies are where you find Jeep Wranglers, convertibles, 15-passenger vans, late-model Toyotas, and luxury and exotic cars.
- Pickup that comes to you. Several offer free pickup from the airport, a hotel or a repair shop.
- Flexibility on age. Some list rates for drivers aged 21 to 24. Expect a surcharge.
- A person who answers the phone. You are usually dealing with the office that owns the car.
The trade-offs are real too. Hours can be shorter than the national counters, mileage may be capped on specialty cars, and policies on tolls, deposits and insurance differ from one agency to the next. Ask before you sign.
How airport pickup works
Independent agencies are not inside the MIA Rental Car Center. Each one handles arrivals its own way: a shuttle, a driver who meets you, or delivery of the car.
Confirm three things when you book:
- Where exactly you will be picked up, and whether you should take the MIA Mover or stay at the terminal.
- The number to call when you land.
- The office hours, in case your flight is late.

For airport arrivals, the company asks you to call the office after you collect your luggage so it can send a driver. Its office is not in the Rental Car Center, so do not ride the MIA Mover there. Luxury and specialty cars booked on its website include 150 free miles a day.

What to ask before you book
- What is the total, with every fee and tax? Compare totals, never daily rates.
- How does pickup work, and what are your hours?
- Is mileage unlimited? If not, what is the daily allowance and the charge per extra mile?
- How are tolls billed? Policies vary most among local agencies. Our guide to rental car tolls in Miami explains the fee types.
- What deposit or card hold do you take, and do you accept debit cards?
- What insurance do you require, and what proof do you need?
- What is your policy for drivers under 25?

Frequently asked questions
Are independent car rental agencies in Miami cheaper?
Sometimes. Agencies outside the airport do not have the same facility costs as the companies in the Rental Car Center, and some pass that on. The only reliable test is the total price for your dates. Our tips for saving money on a Miami car rental show what to compare.
Do independent agencies pick up at Miami airport?
Many do. Champion, Miami Rent A Car, Ventura and Miami Luxury Auto Rent all describe airport pickup or delivery on their websites. Arrange it when you book.
Can I rent from a local agency if I am under 25?
Often, yes. Several local booking forms list a 21 to 24 age option. Expect a daily surcharge and limits on the most expensive cars.
Are the national brands a better choice?
They are simpler for late-night arrivals, one-way rentals and loyalty points. The MIA Rental Car Center guide lists who is on site.
The bottom line
Independent agencies give you choices the big counters do not, especially for specialty cars and personal pickup. Compare the total price, confirm how you will get the car, and get the mileage, toll and deposit terms in writing.
Business details were checked against each company’s website in October 2026. They change, so confirm directly before you book.

Thanks to the author of the post. While looking for a list of rental agencies in Miami I found this article. Even though the list does not cover all the rental agencies, it covers most of the renowned and reliable rental agencies. This list saved a lot of my time. I am travelling to Miami this weekend and needed to hire a car. I checked the websites of some of these rental agencies and booked a car online. They have also offered me a handsome discount for booking online and also for being a doctor!
There are a lot of great rentals aside from this list, too. But this is is fine and this is a good and narrow list if you’re going to look for luxury cars for rent.
Hmmm… good list here. It’s like an amazing list of great rentals. I would recommend Champion Rent-A-Car, Miami Car Luxury, and Luxury Cars Rental Miami. They got a great service.
I love your list here. There are various of services offered here. I might get one of these companies to host my in-laws. These cars would be awesome for them to get around Miami.
These rentals are a bit too pricey. I mean, I know and understand they are luxury cars for rent. But aren’t rentals supposed to be for those who are traveling with a budget?
This is a great post on car rentals in Miami. There are just a lot of companies giving out the same services. But I could see that these very few you have here offers luxury cards for rent. Which is pretty cool.
People who go for car rentals are often on budget. Having luxury cars for rent would sort of be contradictory to that option of renting a car. But I don’t know though… maybe renting luxury cars would be a hit for some.
This is a great list of car rentals. And it’d be very interesting to some to think that they offer rentals of luxury cars. I just wonder if a lot would rent these luxury cars, though.
Imagine renting a Ferrari! That would be awesome. And you’d drive around Miami with luxury cars… you’re going to be a headturner! I say, this is amazing!
I was just curious. Do these rentals have insurance? Just in case, you know. It’s a nice deal, really, to drive those luxurious cars. But I want to know about insurance policies on these cars.
I could not believe that there are really luxury cars for rent! This is amazing, you know. You can rent some cool cars that you can’t afford so just rent them. Just for the heck of experiencing the feel of those cars.
Thanks for this list. I appreciate this kind of line-up of car rentals. They’re good and trustworthy, I guess. I hope they offer a good insurance, though.
These are really good car rental deals. To think that most of them offers luxury cars. If one could get a good deal out of these luxury cars, they’re really lucky.
Champion Rent-a-Car really got a great service. You should rent a car from them. I was entertained well and they treat their customers well. I was able to rent a car for a good rate.
Knowing that there are luxury cars for rent is really amazing and cool. But it’s somehow weird in a way. The rich might want to rent these but can’t they afford to have one themselves instead of rent? Just wondering.
This is a great list of car rentals. There are a lot of possible car rentals in Miami, but this list is good. Plus, the luxury car rentals is very much interesting.
These are great deals of car rentals. Although luxury cars are too pricey, but where and when do you ever come across of luxury cars for rent? It’s rare and it’s something you would surely want to try.
This is quite a rare thing. Luxury cars for rent is so rare and so expensive, I don’t know who would go for this one. But maybe, it would be a hit to those who could really afford this one.
Wow! Lamborghini and Ferrari for rent? A bit pricey but who cares! One should try this one out. You cannot buy them for real, so just rent for the heck of it!
I have heard of the first two car rentals on the list. I could highly recommend them because they are really good in customer’s service. I would try to inquire on the rest of the car rentals on this list.
Exotic car rentals? Wow. That would be amazing. But then, of course, it would always come expensive. I don’t know if that’s worth it, though.
Great source for car rentals. I’ll definitely need to keep this list in mind next time I’m in Miami for a business trip.
Driving in Miami is an amazing experience. I live in Boston but have to travel to Miami now and then. What I do each time, i book a car online and I take airport delivery. So the time I reach the airport from Boston, I know there is one car waiting for me. My office pays for my expenses, so I make sure to do proper use of it. 🙂 Last time I took a BMW X5 from Platinum Rent-A-Car Luxury. As I use this frequently, they offered me a discount as well. The car was tip top and in good running condition. It felt like, i am the first user of the ultimate machine. I also rent from Sunny Rent-A-Car and have to say this company offers pretty good deals for frequent travelers like me. http://www.plrentacar.com
Thanks for posting this article. I often visit Miami on business and sometimes for leisure. I took a look at some of the offerings at Miami Exotic Car Rentals and was surprised. I had no idea someone could rent exotic cars such as a Lamborghini, Ferrari or Rolls Royce! How cool would that be to drive around South Beach and go clubbing in a bright yellow Ferrari F430!? At $1500 a day (or $9000) for the week, it’s pricey, but maybe it is one of those things everyone needs to do at least once in their life? I’m putting this on my bucket list!
