Daytona Beach

Located roughly between Jacksonville and Orlando, Daytona Beach is best known for either its 23 miles of driveable beach, or for its motorsports.  The city acts as the headquarters for both NASCAR and the Grand American Road Racing Association, and its Speed weeks attract hundreds of thousands of car enthusiasts every year.

Daytona International Speedway

Daytona International Speedway was constructed in 1959 and is best known as the home of the esteemed Daytona 500, as well as the Winston Cup and Pepsi 400. You can take short or extended tours on open trams, but if you really want the full experience try and get tickets to an event, where so many racing legends have wowed the crowds.

And if you want a once-in-a-lifetime experience (and let’s face it – who doesn’t) then the Richard Petty Driving Experience is for you.

This amazing experience gives you the opportunity to either be driven as a passenger for a few laps around the circuit, the amazing opportunity to actually drive one of the NASCARs. You will receive a full briefing and instructions on how to use the car, and can then go at speeds of 150 – 170mph for 8 laps round the track. Pure adrenaline!

If you’re spending your holidays in Orlando , Disney World also offers the Richard Petty Driving Experience, so fear not if you aren’t able to do it at Daytona Beach.

Daytona Beach

The beach that made Daytona one of the motorsports capitals of the world. The compacted sand makes it a dream to drive on and it stretches for 23 miles along the coast. There’s white sand, water sports, restaurants and bars, and if you’re lucky, you might even see the odd dolphin in the waves! The waves themselves are bigger than what you’ll find on the west coast of Florida, so bring your boogie boards if you have them with you.

Beach patrols are common, and are there to keep you safe!

Ponce Inlet

A famous lighthouse offers a fantastic view (after 203 steps, that is) of Ponce Inlet and surrounding beach community. The grounds outside are perfect for a picnic, and Ponce Inlet is known as a popular snook fishing location, with other waters ports including parasailing, jet skiing, and fishing charters. Great for a day trip.

Daytona Beach is a wonderful place to spend a day, or even a few nights. Twin centre holidays are incredibly popular at the moment, especially ones that combine the east and west coasts of Florida. Pairing a city like Miami with Tampa, or the Florida Keys is the best way to get the real Florida experience. And with fantastic deals on accommodation, from Miami hotels to Gulf Coast villas, you can’t really go wrong.

The Definitive Guide to Handling Traffic Law Tickets

Driving in Florida is considered a privilege that must be earned and you can lose your license for number of infractions but speeding remains the most common, and residents and visitors to Florida face strict penalties when they are caught exceeding the speed limit.

The Point System

The law is clear that if you travel 16Mph over the speed limit you are given 4 violation points and if caught traveling 15Mph or less over the stated limit you will receive 3 violation points. The point system works where if you are convicted of a speeding offense then the points will stay on your license indefinitely. The legislation is tough and imposes fines associated with these speeding tickets that range from $80 for 6-9MPh over the limit to $305 for exceeding the limit 30MPh or more. However these fines and points can be reduced if you do not commit regular offenses and choose to attend a state approved traffic school.

The points that are added to a Florida driver’s license can result in a suspension of the license, when 12 points are accumulated over a 12 month period it will result in a 30 day suspension, this means a driver can be suspended if they are caught speeding faster than 15MPh three times in one year. If a driver is convicted of 18 points within an 18 month period they will be suspended for three months and a driver can be suspended for one year for gaining 24 points over a 36 month period.

A State Comparison

The laws in Florida are much more severe than those of the neighboring state of Georgia where points only stay on their driver’s license for a period of 24 months and are then removed. No points will be given for speeding less than 15MPh over the speed limit and then only two points for exceeding the limit 18MPh and three for up to 23MPh. A Georgia license will be suspended if the driver accumulates 15 points in a 24 month period. In contrast to Florida the legislation in Georgia and many other states across the USA the laws do not punish drivers as strictly and less face license suspensions and fines.

Florida license holders are also penalized if they are caught speeding out of state, drivers will receive the same number of points for speeding and are not allowed to attend a state approved driving school to remove these points.

Drivers who face speeding tickets are able to fight these tickets through the Florida traffic court system but if a driver chooses to fight a traffic ticket they must be prepared. Fighting a citation through the court system should be done with advice from your attorney and if it is a driver’s first offense the state approved driving school can be a much cheaper and easier option.

Conclusions

Florida state driving legislation has become some of the strictest in the country and many are unaware of the penalties that can be imposed for speeding within the state. Driver can be imposed with big fines and crippling violation points that can affect their livelihood because of suspensions but fighting the points can be a way to stop license suspension and because of the harsh speeding laws more and more residents are choosing this path to stop receiving points and a fine.

Tips for First Time Condo Buyers

If you are someone who is considering purchasing a condominium, you will find that the decision is not an easy one. How big should the unit be, where do you want to live and what amenities are you willing to insist on? The last thing that you want to do is to get stuck with a condo that you don’t like; I’ve seen it happen, and it’s ugly! Make sure you have a few facts in mind before you proceed.

Location, Location Location
In many cases, it’s all about where your unit is located. For example, if you want to make sure that you are at the heart of the action while being a short drive away from some of the most gorgeous vistas in the world, you can’t beat Miami. A condominium is an investment, and one way to look at it is that you will be investing in the area that you live in. Make sure that you are willing to do this before you settle on a condominium unit. The location is something that will contribute a great deal to how you eventually feel about your living space.
Consider the Condominium Association
Some associations simply want to make sure that you don’t play loud music at all hours, while other associations are significantly more strict about things like decorations and property use. Walk around a condominium that you like and talk to your prospective neighbors. Ask them what the association is like and whether they like it. This is a good ay to find out if you are a good fit for the unit in general. If you have any doubts or questions, try to speak to the association itself, rather than going through a proxy. This will help you figure out how you feel about the people who are going to be living next to you.
Consider Your Needs
Before you even start looking at things like price, make sure that you consider your needs. What do you need out of your living space? For example, does your unit need to have a lot of light? Do you intend to have company staying over on a regular basis? Do you have pets and does the condominium allow them? Make sure that you sit down and make a list of everything that you need. If you are planning to stay in your unit for many years, make sure that you consider what that might mean in terms of your needs.
Whether you are considering the size of your unit or you simply want to make sure that you have a breathtaking view, don’t make your first luxury condominium into a real estate disaster. A great condo is a fantastic opportunity for you so choose carefully and find a great place to stay.

The Chevy Corvette – One of the Most Popular Sport Car in the US

The Chevy Corvette is a well-known sports car designed by General Motors. The Corvette has been in production since 1953, when it was first introduced as a show car. It was developed in response to the optimism that came during the post-war period, but it wasn’t well-received at first. In the 1960s, however, Chevrolet improved on the design of the Corvette and it became more popular among consumers. Throughout the 1980s, the Corvette fell in popularity, so it was redesigned again at the end of the 1990s. In the new millennium, the Corvette was presented as a technologically advanced sports car unlike any other, and the public received it well.

The most recent model of Chevy Corvette released was the C6 Corvette. First released in 2005, this car features exposed headlamps, which haven’t been seen on a Corvette since 1962. In addition, the C6 has a 6.0 liter V8 engine and comes as a 6 speed manual or automatic. The C6 Corvette is available as a convertible, targa top, or coupe. Like its predecessor, the C6 Corvette has a front engine and rear transmission. It was made shorter and slimmer in order to be more compatible with the European market, however. The C6 has relatively good fuel economy with 16/26 mpg for the manual transmission and 15/25 mpg for the automatic transmission.

The seventh generation Corvette has been in the works at General Motors since 2007. Originally, it had been said that the C7 Corvette would be released in 2011, but it hasn’t yet occurred. The C7 is still being tweaked, but it is likely that it will be presented sometime by 2012, with the car coming to dealerships in the fall of 2012. It is also expected that the C7 Corvette will retain the rear-wheel drive and front-engine characteristics of previous Corvette models.

The C7 Corvette will feature a 5.5 liter V8 engine with multiple advancements including a new combustion system and an aluminum block. It is likely that the C7 will feature 440 hp horsepower, which will be higher than that available on the C6 model Corvette. Since the C7 will be equipped with a smaller engine, the fuel economy of this new model will show dramatic improvement over the C6. Aesthetically, the C7 will be different as well. The coupe model will have a split rear window. In addition, the interior of the vehicle will include upgrades and higher quality materials. It is expected that even casual observers will notice an apparent change in this new model of Corvette.

The new Chevy Corvette is expected to show significant improvements on the previous models, which were already of high quality. However, the Corvette does not come at a small price. Currently, the least expensive Corvette model, the 2011 Coupe, starts at slightly more than $49,000 base price. The most expensive model, the 2011 ZR1, has a starting MSRP of $110,300. With all of the options selected, this car can cost as much as $135000. It is even possible to select an “engine build package,” in which the buyer can fly to the manufacturing facility and participate in the construction of the vehicle’s engine.

If you do not wish to purchase a new Corvette, you may also be able to obtain one by buying it used. Some used Corvette models can be obtained at much lower prices than what you would be required to pay for the same car as new. However, you will probably have to buy an older model or one that has substantial miles on it. It is possible to find cars in good condition for sale and save some money, however. Nevertheless, it should be noted that some of the rarer used models may be more expensive than a new Corvette.

For those who cannot afford to purchase a Corvette of their own or would simply like to try one out for a while before making a permanent purchase, there are several options available to rent a Chevrolet Corvette. Depending on your location, prices can be very different for Corvette rentals. In general, the price to rent a more expensive Corvette model, such as the Chevy Corvette Convertible, will be higher than the cost of renting a Chevy Coupe. The price will also vary based on how long you plan to keep the car.

If you are looking for Corvette convertible rentals in Miami, for example, one very good company is Miami Luxury Auto Rent, which can be found online at http://www.miamiluxuryautorent.com. With this company, you can rent a Chevy Corvette Convertible for $199 per day or $1199 per week. Renting weekly rather than daily will save you approximately $200 per week. Cars can also be rented by the hour with a minimum of 4 hours. In order to rent a car, you must be 21 years of age or older, have a valid driver’s license, and current insurance. This particular company will pick you up and drop you off for your rental, deliver and pick up the car, or pick up and deliver at the airport or at a hotel. Miami Luxury Auto Rent accepts all form of payment including cash, check, credit card, debit card, or a traveler’s check. It is also possible to rent a car monthly for a discounted price. You can contact the company directly for more information about all of their rental services.

The Chevy Corvette is one of the most popular sports care currently on the market. With a long, rich history dating back to the 1950s, the Corvette is an American icon. However, the Corvette is not a cheap vehicle. A new Corvette will cost you at least $49,000, and a Chevy Corvette Convertible will be even pricier. Used Corvettes are less expensive than new ones, but still aren’t extremely affordable. For those wishing to try out a Corvette or drive one on a temporary basis, it is best to rent one for a pre-determined fee. You can rent a Corvette on an hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly basis depending on your needs. There is usually a discount available for longer rental periods.

Here is a list of Restaurants Miami which have the finest Cuban food, Latin American cuisine, Italian and Spanish foods and much more that create a hum:

Have a Mojito in Miami

Miami is really the American version of Rio de Janeiro, equally beachy, even more posh and with similar sunny weather to boot! Florida is a quite spectacular and tropical part of the world, with orange sunsets, picturesque Everglades (do go on an airboat ride the first chance you get and look out for gators) and a very interesting cultural mix, with a large Cuban expat community spicing things up in many ways, especially when it comes to the local cuisine. Your first night out in Miami should involve a mojito and amazing live music and dancing in Little Havana. During the day, you’ll love the neighbourhood’s art galleries and funky souvenir shops.

The other number one Miami thing to do, of course, is to get yourself a pair of rollerblades, and skate away along the beach boulevard: a toned and oiled body in a most minimal state of dress is obligatory. If you are not the type, people watching while indulging in chocolate sorbet is fun too (I know I belong in the latter group myself!).

What I found lovely around Miami as well, is so many people increasingly interested in a healthy lifestyle: there are plenty of eateries serving fresh, organic food, smoothies galore, and even raw food cafés springing up everywhere.

For architecture buffs Miami has some real gems to look at. Make time to stroll around Miami Beach’s Art Deco Historic District, which has almost a thousand listed and well-preserved hotels and residential buildings  to ogle! For those with a celebrity bent, you’ll also find Gianni Versace’s mansion here, now revamped as a posh boutique hotel. If you’re on the artsy side, drop by the  Wolfsonian-FIU located in the district, which houses a library and an impressive museum dedicated to art and design, with collections of fabulous items spanning between 1885 to 1945.

Another great place to visit is the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, leisurely sprawled on Biscayne Bay in Miami’s Coconut Grove district, one of the city’s oldest and full of fantastic looking homes of the rich and famous. It is lovely to finish off your day here on a sunset dinner cruise around the bay.

While Miami itself has plenty to offer, if your itinerary allows for it time-wise, do explore more of Florida if you can. Key West is a famous daytrip destination, where you can indulge in Caribbean pursuits of coral reef exploration, snorkelling, and parasailing. Another nearby attraction is the Kennedy Space Center, where you can have a look at shuttle launch pads and explore all things space-related.

Make A Date With Multicultural Miami – Learn About The Cuban & Jewish Culture, Festivals, Architecture and Much More!

Miami is an iconic American city – a rich melting-pot of cultures and lifestyles. Here are the places to visit if you want to see some of the diverse cultures that make Miami the vibrant city that it is.

Cuban culture

When Fidel Castro came to power in Cuba, political refugees flooded into Miami seeking a new life. The cupola tower, originally built in 1925 in the style of the Giralda Tower in Seville, the building took on the office of a makeshift lighthouse over Miami Bay whilst housing the Miami News.

The newspaper went out of business in the mid-fifties and the tower lay vacant for a number of years. When Cuban refugees began arriving in Miami, the tower was reopened and served as a hub for processing refugees, offering advice and relief aid to those arriving in the US with nothing. It was then that the cupola tower was re-named Freedom Tower, and with good cause.

The prominent Cuban-American activist Jorge Mas Canosa raised the money to buy the tower in the 1990s after it had fallen into ruin for nearly 30 years. Today, the Freedom Tower is a museum and monument to the trials and tribulations of Cuban-Americans in America, their arrival in Florida and life pre- and post-Castro.

Having gotten a taste of Cuban-American at the Freedom Tower, bring yourself right up to date with a visit to Viernes Culturales. The last Friday of every month is Cultural Friday in Little Havana, and a large festival of art and culture takes over the streets in the heart of Calle Ocho. Music, art and Cuban cuisine spill onto the streets, while free walking tours departing at 7pm from the Tower Theatre my a famed local historian give you a full flavour of Cuba in Miami.

Jewish life in Florida – 250 years of immigration:

Second only to the Hispanic population of Miami is the Jewish community. The first synagogue on Miami Beach was built in 1929 on Washington Avenue, the location chosen for the fact that Jews were not at the time permitted to live north of Fifth Street.

The synagogue is now home to the Jewish Museum of Florida, which has a permanent collection that tells the story of universal immigration. The museum is also home to a number of visiting exhibits, including fine art by Jewish artists and collections of artifacts charting the history of particular parts of the Jewish immigrant community in Florida.

International festivals in Coconut Grove

The neighborhood of Coconut Grove is the oldest in Miami, with a hugely multicultural population. Hispanic, African-American and many other immigrant nations have made The Grove their home.

The Goombay Festival is staged in the month of June each year. This Caribbean Carnival is staged on Grand Avenue and celebrates the culture of immigrants from the Bahamas now naturalized in the USA. With Bahamian music, food and dancing on the streets, the tropical tree-lined avenues become a mini-Caribbean beyond the seas.

Outside of the festival, The Grove remains one of the most multicultural parts of the city. Enjoy the mixture of races and nationalities that converged in the neighborhood through your stomach – the area has Italian, Peruvian, Indian, Mexican, Japanese, Mediterranean, French, Italian, Argentine, Pan and good old fashioned American fare, all within a few blocks.

Distinctively Miami – MiMo architecture:

Popular since the 16th century, Biscayne Bay was the location where the Spanish galleons stopped to replenish their water tanks before crossing the Atlantic. More recently, the area around Biscayne Boulevard from 50th Terrace to 77th Street as become popular for Miami Modern Architecture – known as MiMo – a style of post-war buildings that grew up around the area.

Long-neglected and plagued by drugs and prostitution, the Boulevard was given a new lease of life in the mid 2000s  with the opening of a number of popular restaurants and bars.

Much of the original architecture has been preserved and restored. The New Yorker Boutique Hotel, for instance, has been built in the shell of a motel designed by the famed post-war architect Norman Giller.

Wherever you choose to spend your time in Miami, there’s no escaping its thriving multicultural heritage that makes the city beautiful. If you need good the best accommodation and car hire Miami has to offer there are plenty of deals online.
