Love and Care for Biscayne Bay in Miami Florida
A project by Jesus Portomene, a professional photographer and video producer in Miami Florida.
(Our Biscayne Bay, its being threatened by an invasion of trash that is polluting its waters)
We want to use to illustrate our objectives and motivations, among other imaging and data, the story of a day, at our favorite beach in the Bay. How after we set down the cooler and unfolded the beach chairs, the smell of a large goat in a state of decomposition ruined our plan for a perfect day on the beach. We will show in our video why a goat isn’t part of the picture, and it certainly couldn’t have paid the toll on the way to the beach!
Sadly it looks like this program idea did not make it on Kickstarter. Does anyone know if Portomene is going foward without financial contributions from others? I really believe this project could be funded for a lot less than $14,000.
I lived in Florida when I was young. Biscayne Bay certainly is one of our national treasures. Kudos to Jesus P for trying to organize this important project. Although the Bay does suffer from pollution now, it’s actually better than it was several decades ago. Prior to the 70’s the Bay (especially the Northern Section) was in terrible condition due to urban runoff, raw sewage, artificial islands and other man-made ecological disasters. The situation improved after the area became a protected area (under state and Federal law). Good luck with the project and God bless!
