Traveling with a dog can be a problem if the city you are visiting is not dog oriented. Luckily, Miami is not one of those cities. It will welcome you and your dog with an open heart and offer you some of the most amazing locations the two of you can visit. When it comes to the best dog-friendly parks in Miami, we selected our personal favorites for you. Go and make some amazing memories with your pooch.
Visit Haulover Beach Dog Park
Haulover Beach Park is located on the east side of Collins Avenue and can easily become your four-legged buddy’s favorite place. A bark park is equipped with all doggie amenities like waste bag dispensers and containers. Enclosures that separate dogs under 35lb from their bigger dog pals are here too. Also, the park creators thought about the heat and how it can affect our beloved pooches. There are drinking fountains in the park for dogs and their owners. When the day becomes extra hot, this place offers refreshments to us as well.
But the real treat is the beach right next to this park. Step through parking lots #3 and #4, and you and your doggy will find yourselves free on a wonderful white-sand beach. What is specific about this beach is that many visitors say the dog owners are very attentive to their pets’ behavior. The only downside to this awesome dog-friendly park in Miami is that the beach part is open from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Nevertheless, we highly recommend it.
Hobie Beach Dog Park
Located just off the Rickenbacker Causeway, Hobie Beach Dog Park is a place that should be on your list when visiting Miami with your beloved pooch. This beach has many things going for it, and one of them is its working hours. You can spend a whole day here running around with your dog – from sunrise to sunset. The furry friends are allowed to swim here as well as enjoy full freedom without the leash. No wonder they call it Doggie Beach. The water is shallow, and there’s always a breeze, so this place is perfect for the days that are difficult to take in other sun-kissed areas of Miami. It is worth mentioning there’s free beachside parking here too, making it more worry-free and fun at the same time. So, spread a towel under a palm tree and enjoy watching your little guy have the time of his life chasing after seagulls and waves. What more can a dog-parent want?
Bark Beach at North Beach Oceanside Park
Another beach that welcomes dogs is Bark Beach at North Beach Oceanside Park. During the week, this beach is off-limits for dogs but from Friday to Sunday, between 1:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., it is dog-time. It turns into an off-leash paradise for our four-legged babies with all necessities like drinking fountains and trash cans. Only the elite dogs are let in, meaning vaccinated and licensed ones that are wearing tags on their collars. What sets this location apart is the adjoining North Shore which is a gorgeous neighborhood. Its mid-20th century architecture secured it a place on the National Register of Historic Places. After a nice swim with your pet, the two of you could take a stroll down this stunning neighborhood. Apart from this and other pet-friendly places in Miami, make sure you explore some other activities your furry buddy will appreciate.
Tropical Park
Tropical Park has reportedly been a favorite family-time location for many. The good news is all family members get to love it, even the furry ones. One of this amazing pooch-loving Miami park’s advantages is its size – it’s enormous. Covering more than 275 acres of space, this location can never get old. You think this is an exaggeration. Well, it has 4 lakes! There are so many possible activities to do here, the whole family will enjoy. For the athletic people looking to break some sweat, there is a wide selection of courts of all types. As for your furry companions, the dog park here is large too. There are fenced enclosures that separate big and small pups. Many areas to have a picnic here will get your whole family together, including your doggy. You will surely find many reasons to come back to this green family heaven.
David T. Kennedy Park
Another nature and dog-loving space in Miami is David T. Kennedy Park. It is located right off S. Bayshore Drive, so you can count on a very nice view. When too much walking takes its toll, you and your furry pal will find some good park benches here with a view of the bay. Working out here is also an option since there is a quite decent outdoor gym and a running track, among other things. The kids will love it as well since the park boasts a fun playground for them to find new friends. The bark park has two sections, so your fluffy buddy will be able to find friends of his size and do some running around. Remember, physical activity is important for our pets’ health as well. Whether you and your four-legged buddy are slow-paced or super active, this park will steal your heart.
